Adelaide

APA 75 cl

7,50

The aroma features fruity notes of citrus fruits such as grapefruit, tropical fruits, and a hint of fresh hay. Its bitterness comes from the use of American hops, but at the same time, you can detect notes of honey, caramel, and biscuit from the malt.

The flavor is well-balanced: the hops impart a lingering but not overpowering bitterness, which is balanced by the malt’s sweetness. On the palate, there are fruity and spicy notes, with a dry, clean finish. The carbonation is moderate, giving the beer a fresh, crisp mouthfeel.

Why Adelaide?

With a German temperament inherited from her father’s dynasty and an Italian charm absorbed in the Umbrian valleys between Assisi and Spoleto—where her father Corrado lived and ruled—Adelaide was Frederick II’s first mistress, whom he met while married to Constance of Aragon. Yet the two women were not rivals, but rather protagonists of two parallel and mirror-image lives: Constance, the older, cultured, and refined companion; Adelaide, the sensual love, the youthful embodiment. Shrouded in mystery, as is the case with everything concerning the Emperor’s private life, Adelaide gave birth to Enzo, King of Sardinia, who, among all his children—legitimate or otherwise—was the most like his father.
