“The Economy of Gualdo Tadino from the Mid-18th Century to the Present Day,” the new book edited by Dr. Amoni, was presented at the Flea Brewery.
The presentation of Dr. Daniele Amoni’s new book, *The Economy of Gualdo Tadino from the Mid-18th Century to the Present Day*, was held at the Flea Craft Brewery. The choice of venue for the conference was by no means random: on the book’s cover, we see a photo of the staff of Guerrieri & Luzi, considered one of the most important factories of the late 1920s, while the back cover features an image of the staff of Universo Flea, one of Umbria’s most significant local companies. Through this parallel between past and present—depicting two emblematic realities of Gualdo Tadino in different historical contexts—the objective of this new book becomes clear: to portray the economic situation in Gualdo Tadino from the second half of the 18th century up to the present day, along with the resulting effects on the socio-economic fabric.
The speakers at the presentation were Daniele Amoni, the book’s author; Angelo Barberini and Brunello Castellani, who actively contributed to the essays included in the book; Pierluigi Gioia, rector of the Accademia dei Romiti; Massimiliano Presciutti, mayor of Gualdo Tadino; Matteo Minelli, CEO of Birra Flea and Ecosuntek S.p.A., as well as a partner and owner of the companies within the Flea Group; and Gianni Paoletti, professor of history and philosophy at the Casimiri High School in Gualdo Tadino.
During the conference, the highlights of Matteo Minelli’s professional career were reviewed. It was from his grandfather Vittorio that he learned his entrepreneurial approach, creating not only a business but also, and above all, value for the town of Gualdo Tadino and for the country as a whole.
Dr. Amoni has set a new milestone in historiography with this work, a document that captures two centuries of history and which future generations will be able to draw upon so that, as noted in the book, we may learn about and understand the past in order to comprehend the present and shape the future.
